Professor Guido Grandi, Principal Investigator of the ERC Advanced Grant VACCIBIOME project, was awarded the Accademia dei Lincei's "Antonio Feltrinelli" International Prize for "Molecular and Cellular Pathology, Oncology, Immunology, Microbiology, Medical Genetics." Professor Grandi coordinates two research groups at the University of Trento's CIBIO Department and the Toscana Life Sciences Foundation (TLS), which are active in studying the role of the gut microbiome in the efficacy of cancer vaccines.
Established by entrepreneur and artist Antonio Feltrinelli and awarded by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the prize is one of Italy's highest scientific and cultural awards. The award ceremony was held last June 20 at the Accademia dei Lincei in the presence of President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. The 2021 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Prof. Giorgio Parisi, presented the award to Professor Grandi.
Professor Grandi expressed his profound honor in receiving this award, crediting his career to collaborators and members of the laboratories at the University of Trento and TLS in Siena. With more than 200 publications in international journals and more than 450 patents, Professor Grandi continues to be a leading figure in Life Sciences.
