Versione stampabile

Maijia Su a first year DICAM doctoral student has been selected by the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability (IASSAR) to receive the Student Best Paper Award of the International Conference on Structural Safety and Reliability (ICOSSAR) held on 13-17 September 2022 at Tongji University, Shanghai, China. I

COSSAR represent one of the two top international conferences (held every four years) which promotes the study, research, and applications of scientific principles of safety, risk, uncertainty quantification, and reliability in the analysis, design, and operations of structures and other engineering systems. Maijia Su has been awarded with the paper entitled “A comparative study on the active learning-based metamodeling methods for full probability estimation” by Maijia Su, Ziqi Wang, and Marco Broccardo (Su’s Ph.D. Advisor).

Specifically, Su, Wang and Broccardo investigated how and if active learning (a Machine Learning technique) can be used to significantly improve computational efficiency in engineering problems dealing with the propagation of uncertainties through expensive computational models.
