Taipei, Taiwan - On May 25, during the "International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference" (I2MTC 2016), David Macii received the "Faculty Course Development Award" for his novel M.S. course "Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation", which will be included in the M.S. Program in Mechatronics Engineering from next academic year onwards.

The award, granted by the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, is assigned yearly to Faculty members developing a new course (taught in an accredited Engineering, Physics, or Science curriculum) in which instrumentation and measurement topics play a key role.

The course "Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation" aims at addressing some of the educational needs highlighted by many companies located in Trentino. In particular, the course is supposed to cover the following topics: power electronics, measurement techniques and instruments for power electronic systems, energy measurements and industrial metrology.

Thanks to the "Faculty Course Development Award" and to the support of the Department of Industrial Engineering, some new teaching equipment for power electronics will be bought and installed in the Department premises, thus providing M.S. students with new hands-on learning experiences, that will help improve further their technical skills in the broad area of Industrial and Mechatronics Engineering.
