The qualifying event of Google # Hash Code 2018 was held on March 1st 2018 at the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science, in collaboration with the company SEAC.

The event was a team programming competition organized by Google, where participants form a team and select a programming language to solve concrete problems "in support" of the engineers and developers of Google.

"At European level, there were about 37.000 registered participants, and the groups that managed to solve the problem were over 4.800. 120 students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science took part in the event, divided into 36 groups of 2-4 people. 21 groups managed to deliver a solution, giving to UniTrento  the title of "most active Italian hub". The best group managed to rank first among the groups registered at Italian universities, fourth in Italy (also considering Google Developers Group and singles), 197th at European level" as communicated by Professor Alberto Montresor, promoter of the event at UniTrento.

"The enthusiasm of the students has made the challenge even more exciting by demonstrating new IT talent that will be ready soon for the local and international market ..." said Nicola Clauser of the Seac group.
