Smart Bivouac was designed by Carlotta Tagliaro, Alberto Bombardelli (Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science) and Francesco Ballerin (Department of Mathematics). The project won the first prize at the Vertical Innovation Hackaton, a 24-hour Technological innovation marathon held in Bolzano from 16 to 17 November 2018.

The aim of the event was to create innovative solutions to improve the quality of life and make the environment in which we live more sustainable.

The initiative involved 100 students and was attended by programmers from Google and Facebook.

The winners have created an application for smartphones and tablets that gives the possibility to book mountain bivouacs in Trentino-Alto Adige. The creators will have the opportunity to present their project in the Silicon Valley.
