DISI participates in the ministerial call for the funding of additional PhD scholarships

Four scholarships available on Green and Innovation topics

The DISI Doctoral Programs participate in the new ministerial call for admission to the 37th cycle supported by the National Operational Programme- PON "Research and Innovation" 2014-2020 for the funding of additional doctoral scholarships on Green and Innovation topics.

The call aims to encourage major exchange between the world of research and the world of industry by focusing on innovation, digital and enabling technologies topics and on Green topics related to the preservation  of the ecosystem, biodiversity, the reduction of the climate change impacts and the promotion of sustainable development.

Companies are expected to be involved in the definition of the training plan and the Doctoral students are required to spend periods of study and research in a company for a minimum of six to a maximum of twelve months.

Start of the Academic Year: January 1st, 2022

Available PhD Scholarships 

The Doctoral Program in Information Engineering and Computer Science funds 2 scholarships:

  • 1 scholarship on Topic 1 - Innovation
    Automatic Lung Ultrasound Data Analysis and Scoring 
    Principal Investigator: prof. Libertario Demi
    The selected candidate will spend 12 months at UltraAI start up
     
  • 1 scholarship on Topic 2 - Green
    Enabling Sustainable Tiny Machine Learning on Batteryless IoT Edge Devices 
    Principal Investigator: Dr. Kasim Sinan Yildirim
    The selected candidate will spend  6 to 9 months at ST Microelectronics 

Il Doctorate Program in Industrial Innovation funds two scholarships on Topic 2 - Green:

  • Scholarship 1: Energy-aware Deep Learning per Smart Retail
    Principal Investigator: prof. Elisa Ricci
    The selected candidate will spend 6 months at Spindox Labs srl
     
  • Scholarship 2: Innovative sintering processes for traditional and innovative ceramics with limited environmental impact and reduced energy demand 
    Principal Investigator: prof. Vincenzo M. Sglavo
    The selected candidate will spend 6 to 8 months at Industrie Bitossi Spa – ceramici innovativi 

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online at the Application online link. Only candidates who have obtained the master's degree (or equivalent qualification obtained abroad) by 31 October 2021 can apply.

Application deadline: October 27, 2021 at 4:00 pm (Italian time)

The selection is based on the evaluation of qualifications and an interview in English.
