The Department of Mathematics is one of the 180 departments of italian universities selected for funding by MIUR (Ministry of Education, University and Research) within the project "Dipartimenti di eccellenza”. In the research area "Mathematics and Informatics", eleven departments have been funded.
The plan "Dipartimenti di Eccellenza", established by the 2017 budget law, aims to award the Departments of the italian state universities which are characterized by excellence in research quality and scientific planning. The Department of Mathematics will receive 6.6 MEUR over the next five years for hiring new professors and researchers and to support the new teaching and research activities foreseen by the project.
