Francesco Nicoli, SIS PhD Graduate, awarded with the Supranational Political Economy Prize

Francesco Nicoli, who defended his PhD in February 2017, was awarded the Supranational Political Economy Thesis Prize for his dissertation on the Political Economy of the Eurocrisis, supervised by professor Luigi Bonatti and with the advice of professors Simona Piattoni and Andrea Fracasso. His dissertation, titled “Integration through crises? Testing neofunctional hypotheses in a political economy investigation of crisis-led integration”, was described by the jury as “an outstanding piece of work (…) a most interesting and sophisticated example of scholarship. We are sure that this thesis represents a landmark contribution to scholarship on supranational political economy.” Parts of Dr. Nicoli thesis have been published as stand-alone articles on the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of European Integration, and Comparative European Politics. Further information on Francesco’s current work at the University of Amsterdam can be retrieved on ResearchGate or on his personal website.
