The University of Calgary (Canada) invites UniTrento students to participate in the 5th Global Community Challenge YYC (GCC).
The GCC programme is a unique virtual opportunity for students, both from UCalgary and their international partners, to work in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary teams, collaborating with community partners, co-creating solutions to local and global challenges.
Accepted applicants will be divided into international interdisciplinary teams of 7- 8 people who will be called upon to analyse one of the 12 challenges from multiple perspectives and solve it during activities in October and November.
The workload is approximately 30 hours and includes:
- 3-4 targeted meetings with the UC academic tutor
- 7 workshops
- constant discussion with the members of your team
- final presentation of the elaborated results
There is also regular contact with the team, tutor and community partner via e-mail and/or an agreed method of communication (e.g. whatsapp, discord, slack, etc.).
This year an application called ‘goosechase’ has been introduced which is like a virtual treasure hunt! During the challenges there will be opportunities to earn points for participation in programme activities, with a prize at the end for the winner!
Participants will have the opportunity to consolidate some transversal skills that are very important in the world of work: teamworking, creativity, the ability to analyse situations and find solutions, all in an environment, albeit virtual, that is dynamic and multicultural, which will enable students to form a network of acquaintances all over the world.
The online application must be sent to Calgary by 19 September 2024. Participation is free of costs.
Full details, the online application form and for information session registrations can be found on this webpage.
