PROTO Challenge: students and companies for additive manufacturing innovation

Deadline: 21 July 2019

Versione stampabile

Applications for the 2019 edition of the PROTO Challenge are now open. The initiative will involve students and manufacturing companies that will collaborate to the innovation of industrial products and components using advanced design techniques for additive manufacturing.

During the Challenge five multidisciplinary teams will work with experts from both academia and industry to optimize the performance of products presented by selected companies. Teams will start working on a 3D CAD project, they will execute a Finite Elements Analysis for topological optimization and redesign the product so that it can be produced with additive or mixed techniques.

Teams will be trained on the use of an advanced design software (Altair Inspire) and will be supported by experts in working hands-on with the participating companies. At the end of the Challenge a winning team will be selected to participate to the Additive Manufacturing Forum 2020 in Berlin.

Students and former students (up to 18 months from graduation) from the Universities of Trento and Bolzano can take part in the Challenge. Candidates will be selected according to the criteria written in the Notice.

Candidates must apply by 21 July by filling the application form online

The Challenge will take place from 9 October and 27 November 2019.
