Imago Tridentina: a virtual window on landscape

Virtual visits of the exhibition on historic cartography by the University of Trento start now

Versione stampabile

As museums are still closed to public because of the Covid-19 pandemic, prospective visitors can take a virtual look at the maps of “Imago Tridentina”.

With this initiative GeCo, the Geography and cartography research centre of the Department of Humanities of the University of Trento, resumes its activities.

However, GeCo, which was created by a partnership between the University of Trento, the Autonomous Province of Trento and the City of Rovereto, has never backed away from its commitment to Trentino.

GeCo worked side by side with the Provincial Health Care Service during the pandemic emergency to create maps of the spread of the virus, therefore providing a valuable instrument to decision makers.

In this new phase it is going back to its cultural mission. "Now, as we are returning to normality, GeCo is resuming its cultural activities by promoting the geographic, historic and cartographic heritage of the region and disseminating culture", commented Elena Dai Prà, associate professor of Geography at the University of Trento, director of the Centre and scientific coordinator of the exhibition.
