Aim

The aim is to analyse current trends in China's developments. China is striving to create an alternative social, economic and legal model, which seeks to be not the mere emulation of Western models but the inheritance and enhancement of Chinese outstanding tradition's values. This is the main task of Chinese government and Communist Party's agenda.

The first attempt occurred during the last decades of the Qing dynasty and led to the perish of the empire and the refusal of the tradition. Today, after 40 years since the Policy of Reform and Opening-up, characterized by the study and importation of Western ideas models goods, and by a rapid growth, China is trying to stand as a mature country and to define its identity. As Confucius pointed out, the age of 40 is the age of maturity and doubtless. China is trying to develop its own identity by looking at its tradition and by addressing the challenges of the future. On one side we have the Confucian values, on the other side we have the needs of the digital society.

Trentino-Alto Adige has become one of the richest regions in natural and geographic wonderland. The leisure part of the Summer School will bring participants to explore the amazing landscapes of this mountain region, where Italian and German language and culture live side by side.

Moreover, Trento is the birthplace of Martino Martini, acclaimed as the father of Chinese geographical science, and hosts the homonymous Centre aiming at developing cultural relations between Europe, China and East Asia.
