Abstract
In face-to-face communication, people use a variety of social cues to interact with each other. However, in mediated communication, these social cues are transmitted inaccurately or lost completely. This can lead to problems such as reduced efficiency in remote communication, misunderstandings, and deterioration of empathic communication. In this seminar, I will introduce interdisciplinary research aimed at achieving remote communication that is equivalent to or even better than face-to-face communication, using technologies that can effectively transmit and receive social cues in video-mediated communication, as well as techniques to appropriately modify social cues in audio and text communication.
