This presentation will outline the trajectory of my last six-year research journey focusing on the control of microgrids and power converters. The motivation behind this investigation derives from the increasing integration of batteries and renewable energy sources into the electrical grid, seeking for a viable solution for achieving a 100% renewable grid. The presentation will briefly address the research problems and the innovative solutions proposed to accomplish the outlined objectives. Practical experiments and hardware-in-the-loop results will be showcased, offering insights into the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed methodologies.

LUCAS SAVOI ARAUJO received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in 2022. He was a Visiting Researcher with the University of Padova, Padova, Italy, in 2022. From 2017 to 2022, he was a Researcher with TESLA-Power Engineering group, Belo Horizonte, Brazil, working in industrial and government projects related to converter control for batteries, and real microgrid control, design, and implementation. He is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway, working on implementing a solution to reduce emissions on an oil and gas platform. His research is mainly related to control of grid-forming converters, centralized control of microgrids, hardware-in-the-loop implementation, and integration of batteries and renewable energy sources.
