Abstract
Why/When/How do we do university technology commercialization? Of course the goal of this talk is to convey that the answer is “with TandemLaunch”! This talk will explain why 21st century economic gains will be driven by innovation, how there’s a huge amount of capital being invested in technology, and how intelligent leveraging of university intellectual property (with the right partner) is the optimal way to capitalize on these trends.

The goal of the TandemLaunch program is to provide the resources to commercialize promising consumer electronics technologies.  We enhance the quality of the ideation or creation stage of a new venture through technical expertise, industry-based due diligence, and targeted sourcing of high caliber contributors. Once established, we accelerate the incubation of the venture through turn-key staff resources, hands-on mentorship and efficient operational support. Finally, we provide graduating new companies with further growth financing and access to a broad investor base.

The talk will focus on technology commercialization, in particular Entrepreneurship, and specifically the TandemLaunch model for commercialization of university IP. Our model is new but highly successful and I will explain why this is so and discuss past successes and future goals with tips for professors and graduate students interested in commercialization.
