Complex functional equations are used always more frequently as a base for realistic models of structured populations. Analytical tools to unveil their dynamics are often hindered by an infinite-dimensional state space. Reducing to polynomials, a seemingly naive yet key idea, leads to sound numerical approaches, rather promising for investigating stability and bifurcation.
