Abstract:
This talk will provide an overview on some recent achievements related to the study of statistical methods over the sphere. After an introductory part, focussed on harmonic and wavelet analysis over the sphere, some results concerning nonparametric and parametric statistics will be presented. More specifically, they will be related to the nonparametric estimation by means of wavelet systems, and the study of spherical random fields, in the high-frequency limit.
Some explanatory example will be also discussed.
