Abstract

We consider the plane over the real numbers or the rational numbers. There are algebraic groups that act birationally on the plane over our field, and I will give examples of such groups. Their classification is closely related to the classification of del Pezzo surfaces and minimal conic fibrations over a non-closed field, and I will explain this connection.
