Abstract
In the last few years, data collection in behavioral research has progressively moved away from physical environments and towards the Internet. The possibility to recruit and compensate participants on crowdsourcing marketplaces (e.g., Mechanical Turk) can accelerate and democratize the production of scientific knowledge. Crowdsourcing research, however, also brings new and unique challenges. In this talk I will discuss and present evidence of some of these challenges with particular attention to participant nonnaivety, i.e., the tendency for crowdsourced participants to become knowledgeable about the research process and specific research paradigms.
