Seminar on “Presentation design”
Speaker: Professor Chris Carr from California, Polytechnic State University (Visiting Fulbright Professor)
Professor Carr is visiting the University of Napoli Parthenope as the US-Italy Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Business. During his visit to Trento on May 11 and May 12 he will conduct innovative seminars on Presentation Design.
Seminar Topic: Communication is the lubricant of good teaching, research, business, economics, the practice of law and development of effective public policy. However, even after years of taking communication coursework, thousands of undergraduate and graduate students at top schools around the world continue to enter private industry, academia and government with poor skills for delivering presentations that persuade or motivate others to action. These seminars take a very different approach, and will help you see and appreciate how you can develop your personal presentation style and voice, and confidently give presentations with compelling visuals and data that add value.
- Session 1, Thursday May 11 from 3 p.m., Room 1B: (1) Introduction to Presentation Design, from the unique perspective of a Silicon Valley Professor; (2) The skeleton of a business presentation that leads others to action – what does it look like?
- Session 2, Friday May 12 from 3 p.m., Room 3D: (1) Presenting data, data visualization, and infographics that provide actionable knowledge (no more lazy data dumps on PPT slides, please!); (2) Ideation and mind mapping; (3) Summary, review, next steps.
