The concept of Terroir, with the legal protection granted to Geographical Indications (GIs) in European Law and via other legal tools in Canadian Law, is a powerful driver of innovation in the food sector. Quebec introduced a new regime for the protection of geographical appellations for food stuff, modeled on the European GIs law.The Seminar will discuss the legal role of Terroir in a transystemic comparative perspective, focusing on European and Canadian law.
