The book addresses persistent discrimination against women for economic, political, legal, and cultural reasons and factors like class, ethnicity, religion, caste, and sexual orientation. While it focuses on women, land rights, it argues that greater recognition alone isn't enough for true social equality. The real challenge lies in the patriarchal power dynamic between the public (largely male) and private spheres (where
caregiving tasks are seen as exclusively female). Patriarchy shapes thought, culture, and gender relations in societies.
Starting with a historical overview of "women and land rights," the book explores unresolved issues from a gender perspective and suggests emerging solutions and future considerations.
