The cultures of strangers

In this lecture we'll talk about the social logic of the world of stranges, as urban public space is sometimes called. How did we learn to live in such settings? How do we trust each other in conditions of unpredictability? We'll use the works of Simmel, Milgram, Goffman and the interactionist school in sociology, plus some contemporary examples to answer these questions.
