Abstract
Contemporary sociology presents a rich landscape of research problems, topics, and fields, yet is also marked by fragmentation. This seminar explores a perspective on the discipline that combines pluralism with shared methodological standards, thus avoiding fragmentation. Pluralism in terms of topics and research fields, alternative and competing theories, and complementary research designs, data, and methods of data analysis.
Likewise, shared methodological standards for assessing competing theoretical and empirical claims. The seminar will be an opportunity to discuss key features of the recent Handbook of Sociological Science: Contributions to Rigorous Sociology (eds. K. Gërxhani, Nan Dirk de Graaf & W. Raub).
