Speaker

  • Serena Natile - Lecturer in Socio-Legal Studies at Brunel Law School, Brunel University London.

The lecture will be based on Natile's recent book "The Exclusionary Politics of Digital Financial Inclusion: Mobile Money, Gendered Walls", published by Routledge for the RIPE Series in Global Political Economy. The book draws on law and development scholarship, feminist political economy and decolonial debates to examine the narratives, institutions and governance of digital financial inclusion as a development strategy for gender equality, focusing on Kenya’s path-breaking mobile money project M-Pesa.
