The challenge of charged particles and photon detection in space
Speaker
Dr. Giovanni Ambrosi - INFN-Perugia
Abstract
High energy-charged cosmic rays and photons from deep space bring valuable information about our galaxy. The challenge in the direct measurement is due to the need for on-orbit positioning and operation of the detector, to avoid the effect of the atmosphere. We will review the major running experiment in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and present the technological solutions implemented to bring and operate complex particle detectors in space.
