SIS Applied Workshops on Global Affairs

Versione stampabile

The School of International Studies is launching the new edition of “The School of International Studies' Applied Workshops on Global Affairs", an initiative aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The three workshops will introduce students to specific problems of international security and global affairs by adopting a practical approach and innovative teaching methods (simulations, debates, role-play, etc.). Instructors are qualified experts and practitioners with direct knowledge in the relevant field.  A short description of the programme is available in the box of download.

By attending at least two workshops participating SIS students will earn one "extra credit" per workshop and will have them registered in their academic transcript of records. Students may attend three workshops at most.

Workshops are scheduled according to the following timetable:

  • INTERSOS Workshop "Humanitarian intervention in complex crises: the case of Ukraine" (Sep 19 h 14.30-17.30; Sep 20 h 09.30-12.30)
  • SIS Workshop "Conflict analysis in African complex societies" (Sep 20 h 14.30-17.30; Sep 21 h 09.30-12.30)
  • Lighthouse Reports' Workshop (on-line) "Open-Source Intelligence Techniques & Digital Evidence: Spotting war crimes in Ukraine" (Sep 21 h 14.30-17.30; Sep 22 h 09.30-12.30)

Application

Each workshop is open to max 20 students: registration is mandatory and will be open today. We invite you to apply by September 2nd 2022 filling the on-line form.

Applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis. Admitted students will be notified by September 7th 2022.

Please consider that, as registration is open to a limited number of students, the admission of one student to the workshops may result in the exclusion of another interested student. Once admitted, students are therefore expected to participate unless force majeure occurs.

Subject to availability of places, the seminars are also open to non-SIS Master's students (i.e. 'laurea magistrale' or 'laurea a ciclo unico') from the University of Trento. Please note that the awarding of credits to non-SIS students can only be undertaken if approved by their own Department.
