The Myc transcription factor selectively regulates the transcriptional activity of thousands of target genes, and affect the processing and degradation of the corresponding transcripts. Nevertheless, despite the central role of this factor for the cell growth in healthy and disease conditions, we have a limited understanding on how it regulates the mRNA dynamics. To tackle this issue, we characterized (i) the rates of mRNA synthesis, processing and degradation, and (ii) the binding of Myc and Polymerase 2 in a detailed time course following the activation of Myc. The results shed light on the role of Myc for the transcriptional dynamics of its target genes.
