Singapore and Trento get even closer with the recent memorandum of understanding regarding the field of Information and Communication Technology.

The document was signed by the  Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science (DISI) and the School of Computing of the National University of Singapore, the latter ranking in the highest positions in the Asian and international university rankings for years.

Gian Pietro Picco, Director of DISI remarked that “This agreement aims at opening new opportunities for didactics and research activities, through international mobility of students, researchers and professors, to activate a sound co-operation and shared research projects. Students of the University of Singapore will come to Trento, starting from 2015, to attend master’s courses in Computer science or Telecommunications engineering. At the end of their training, five of them will be selected among the most talented and will travel back to Singapore to attend the PhD course of the School of Computing: the knowledge and skill set acquired in Trento will be recognized and enhanced, thanks to a joint supervision. Further, the PhD students of the University of Singapore will have the possibility to spend one full year at DISI, and vice versa, to carry out research and develop their projects”.

The University of Singapore is engaged in promoting the two master’s degree of DISI, in Computer science and Telecommunications engineering among its newly graduated, using all the available channels, at Asian and international level. The agreement results from already ongoing projects involving professors of both departments and it aims at further enhancing their shared areas of interest, focusing on the joint training of students, who will have the opportunity to spend half of their time in Singapore and half in Trento.

Students enrolling in the DISI master’s degree will be encouraged to focus on joint projects and involve colleagues and researchers of Singapore.
