Nicola Maria Pugno was awarded the Humboldt Research Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation for his academic career. The award is given to internationally renowned scientists from every discipline for their scientific achievements.
His nomination was submitted to the Foundation and its selection committee by Professor Rainer Adelung, University of Kiel (CAU), Germany. The award ceremony will take place at the end of March in Bamberg.
Prize winners are invited to conduct research at a research institute in Germany. Professor Pugno will work with Professor Adelung on the lightest structural materials in the world, such as aerographite, on which they have already obtained important results that have been published in prestigious scientific journals such as Nature Communications.
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation sponsors distinguished international scholars irrespective of their academic discipline or nationality and promotes international academic cooperation.
