The survey on the objective and subjective safety in the municipality of Trento will continue until 14 November

Versione stampabile

Citizens are welcome to participate in the third round of the “Survey on the objective and subjective safety in the municipality of Trento”, which started on 1 October.

The citizens’ participation is important to provide to the authorities a complete and true scenario of the situation of crime, the perception of lack of security and urban degradation of the Municipality of Trento over the last year.
Up to now 907 out of 4,054 interviews have been completed online or by phone, which represent 22% of interviewees (data updated to 26 October). However, citizens are invited to participate and complete the interview during the next two weeks.

The survey was carried out in the framework of the European project eSecurity, the first project in the world of urban predictive security, coordinate by the research eCrime of the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento, in cooperation with the Police of Trento, the ICT centre of the Bruno Kessler Foundation and the Municipality of Trento.

This research activity was repeated four times, every semester, during the project development. After the first two rounds, in October 2013 and in April 2014, the interview is being submitted to the citizens again, in October/November 2014. The next and last round will take place in April 2015.

This is the first time that a survey on victimization involves the city of Trento as an “experimental laboratory” and is carried out every six months to monitor the crime trend and the sense of insecurity of inhabitants.
The survey interviews is submitted to about 4,000 citizens belonging to a representative sample, obtained from the personal data records of the municipality of Trento. The selected citizens have been invited, via email or mail, to participate in the new round of the survey. The team uses the interview to collect information on crimes committed against the citizens of Trento, between October 2013 and September 2014, and on the level of urban degradation and the sense of perceived security.
