SIE - Società Italiana degli economisti is the Italian Economic Association. It counts more than 800 members, mainly (but not exclusively) academics and researchers in the different fields of Economics.
SIE aims at fostering and stimulating economic research in Italy. It organizes anannual scientific meeting; it manages the publication of the Italian Economic Journal (from 2015 with a renewed with Editorial Committee); it awards the SIE Award for doctoral theses in Economics .
Since 1963 SIE organizes an annual scientific meeting. The first was held in Genoa debating the report by Marco Fanno on the topic “The Theories of the Economic cycle”. The latest meetings were held in Rome (2011), Matera (2012) and Bologna (2013).
The 2014 will take place in Trento.
The plenary sessions will deal with unemployment and deflation in Europe (featuring Tito Boeri and Marcello Messori), and with the Chinese growth model (report by Fabrizio Zillibotti).
A special session will be devoted to the memory of two former SIE Presidents, Augusto Graziani and Siro Lombardini.
As usual, ample room will be devoted to the presentation of selected scientific works, to roundtables, and special sessions organized in collaboration with the Associations focusing on the various fields of economics.
