Aleida Assmann is a Professor of English Literature and Literary Theory at the University of Konstanz and a leading scholar in the field of cultural memory studies. She has been visiting professor at the Universities of Princeton, Yale, and Wien. She was awarded several prizes, such as - with her husband Jan Assmann - the Balzan prize for studies on collective memory in 2017 and the Peace Prize of German Book Trade in 2018.
